About Mussoorie City Information
Located at a height of 2000 meters, this
picturesque hill resort was set up during the days of the "Raj".
It's treks and walks down the famous Camel Back Road welcome visitors in the
summer and in the winter. You can trek through the hills and jump over
little hills, streams and flowers in the valley and proceed for rock
climbing or mountaineering if you wish. Mussoorie is an excellent respite
for tourists and people who want relief from the hot sultry conditions of
the plains. Nature has gifted Mussoorie everything which makes a place
beautiful. With the onset of summers tourists start coming here.
Mussoorie Travel Attractions
Kempty Falls,15km away on the Yamunotri Road are the biggest and prettiest
falls in this area. Camel's Back Road, the 3km long road starting from the
Kulri Bazaar and ending at the Library Bazaar offers a a picturesque walk
with views of the Himalayas. Lal Tibba, the highest peak in Mussoorie. An
excellent trek, 4km from Picture Palace. The Jheel, a picnic spot 6km away,
on the Dehradun-Mussoorie Road, with good views of the Doon Valley.
Climate
Mussoorie is a hill station which has pleasant climate around the year. It
is a very cool place with greenery at its full bloom during September to
November. The best seasons to visit Mussoorie is between April to June and
again during September to November.
Shopping in Mussoorie
Mussoorie is famous for wooden decorative and gift items. But one can also
bargain brass statues and ceramic vases. Some good showrooms are located on
the Mall where one can look for wooden boxes, brass statues, Tibetan Prayer
wheels and vases. The hand carved oakwood walking stick are also popular
among tourists. In the markets, photographs can be clicked wearing a
dazzling Garhwali Dress. To be photographed in Garhwali garb against a
painted Himalayan range makes a wonderful picture.
Access to Mussoorie
From the Jolly Grant airport of Dehradun, you may go up to Mussoorie (2¼
hours, 60 km). The overnight Mussoorie Express links Delhi to Dehradun, the
railhead for Mussoorie. Delhi to Mussoorie is 290 km by road. Dehradun to
