Mussoorie's history dates back to 1827 when Captain
Young, an adventurous military officer, explored the present site and laid
the foundation of this holiday resort which now has few rivals. The, 'Queen
of the Hills' commands a wonderful view of extensive Himalayan snow ranges
to the north-east, and glittering view of the Doon Valley to the South. The
town with its green hills and varied flora & fauna is a fascinating hill
resort.
Gun Hill
Offers a beautiful panoramic view of Himalayan ranges and
a birds-eye view of Mussoorie and the Doon Valley. Enjoy the Ropeway
Ride to the second highest peak of Mussoorie.
Muncipal Garden
A picnic spot with beautiful garden and an artificial
lake having facilities of boating.
Camels Back Road
Starting from Kulri Bazaar and ending at Library Bazaar,
the main charm of this road is Horse Riding and walking. The Sunset View of
the Himalayas is superb.
Mussoorie Lake Travel
A newly developed picnic spot, situated on Mussoorie-
Dehradun road, is about 6 Km from Mussoorie. It is a delightful spot. Pedal
boats are available.
Dhanolti
Located on Mussoorie- Tehri Road at a distance of 25 Km.
From Mussoorie. On the way, Buranskhandra offers a captivating view of the
Himalayan amidst and deodar forest. Dhanolti is an ideal place for a quiet
weekend.
Kempty Fall
15 km from Mussoorie on the Yamunotri Road, Kempty fall
has a distinction of being the biggest and prettiest waterfall located in
the valley, surrounded by mountains. Bath at the foot of the fall is
refreshing and enjoyable for all.
Childer's lodge
Highest Peak of Mussoorie near Lal Tibba. 5 Kms from the
Tourist Office, has exhilarating snow view.
Cloud's End
The bungalow built in 1838 by a British Major, was one of
the highest Four Buildings of Mussoorie. It is converted into a Hotel and
situated at the extreme west of Mussoorie Hill, 8 Kms from Library. The
resort is surrounded by thick forest, offers wide variety of Flora and Fauna
besides panoramic view of snow claded Himalayas and Yamuna.
