Shimla is well connected by train. You can opt for the overnight Kalka Mail from Delhi which reaches early next morning, and then switch over to the "Toy Train". The narrow gauge train takes 4-5 hrs to reach Shimla going through Lovely Mountain side and 101 tunnels.
In the alternative you can take the early morning train Himalayan Queen form Dehi to reach Shimla by 11:20 am and then take the Toy Train or a 3 hours ride by taxi to Shimla which cost Rs.1200 approx. for 4 persons.

Jagson Airlines fly to/ from Delhi every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at fare of Rs. 3375/- per person one way. Introducing Air Deccan shortly. Airport is 16 km from Shimla. Taxi is freely available at the airport costing Rs. 750/-
